I used tracing paper as it was literally the first thing I found in HobbyCraft that looked like it would do the job. It's working for me and I'm not sure what else you could get for 50p a sheet.

Whilst my tent cost very little to make, the downside is that it doesn't easily collapse - something I haven't had to deal with yet. I'm sure if I put some more thought into it I could come up with a way to collapse it without creasing the tracing paper. The PVC-tube design that Andy made is more suitable for packing away.

For more inspiration, check out the light tents on Make - lots of different approaches there.

Another option that I saw via MattB's flickr stream, is this mini studio setup from Amazon. For only £30, it is very tempting.

Any tips/tricks worth noting or sharing, I think I will be similarly inspired in the near future to build my own light tent too. One of my major concerns is what material to use for the diffuser, whether tracing paper is OK or if I should find some sort of material (and if it is material, then what material?)?

One of the design decisions I think I'll take into account with my tent is making it collapsable or foldable is some way. Would be hard to store otherwise I think and would get wrecked! Any tips or designs you've seen for that would be very welcome.
